Lincoln MKR

The Lincoln MKR debuts a TwinForce engine, the first of a new engine family for Ford Motor. Ford says its 3.5-liter V6 gasoline twin-turbo direct injection engine is better than some V8 engines.

The car also pays homage to the environment, running on E-85 ethanol and featuring an interior built with renewable resources such as a reengineered oak instrument panel, mohair carpet and soy seat foam.

One of the design elements that stands out is the double-wing front grille which was inspired by the 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. Its design is meant to resemble a boat cutting through water. [Slide Show at CNET]

Ford wants to bring back the muscle cars of the 1960s with the Ford Interceptor, which is based, of course, on the Mustang. The Interceptor is powered by a six-speed Ford Racing 5.0-liter Cammer engine. It runs on E-85 ethanol and produces 400 horsepower.  [Slideshow at CNET]

Mysterious Metallic Object Crashes Into Home

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Jan. 4) - Authorities were trying to identify a mysterious metallic object that crashed through the roof of a house in eastern New Jersey.

Nobody was injured when the golf-ball sized object, weighing nearly as much as a can of soup, struck the home and embedded itself in a wall Tuesday night. Federal officials sent to the scene said it was not from an aircraft.

Despite the fact that the Air Force's Active Denial System has yet to be deployed against unruly domestic mobs as Secretary Michael Wynn would have liked -- seems like they missed their opportunity prior to the PS3 launch -- Wired is reporting that the branch's so-called "pain gun" has been certified as "safe" by scientists and "excruciating" by the soldiers and monkeys it was tested on.

Hi tech T-shirt really rocks

It's called the WIS - the Wearable Instrument Shirt - and it is tipped to make the air guitar as obsolete as the horse and cart.

Scientists at the CSIRO's Textile and Fibre Technology division in Geelong have woven electronic sensors into a T-shirt so that it can be played liked a real guitar.

Movements by the wearer's arms are mapped and beamed by radio to a computer which interprets them and turns them into musical notes.

Fox to Debut Sinking TV Episodes on MySpace Marshall Kirkpatrick 11 comments »Fox Interactive announced this morning that the first and second episodes of Warner Bros. Television’s THE O.C. this season will be available on MySpace and Fox affiliate sites as much as a week before they show on TV. A week after TV broadcast the shows will be taken back offline. Just like the last batch of shows that Fox said would be available on MySpace earlier this month, a downloadable player will be required to view the files; users will not be able to skip ads.
