MediaWeek: Arbitron Begins PPM Monitoring
In preparation for a January 2007 launch, Arbitron announced Wednesday it had begun installing its portable people meter system in the nation's sixth largest market. Arbitron is recruiting a panel of 2,040 consumers aged six and older to carry the cell-phone sized PPM device, replacing the antiquated paper-and-pencil diary-based methodology used to measure radio since the late 60s.
Although originally scheduled to be the second market in the company’s PPM rollout, Philadelphia could be the first to go live with the electronic ratings service if the Houston PPM service does not receive Media Rating Council accreditation by November. [ MORE ]
